Embracing Unschooling and Enjoying the Journey

Thursday, May 23 3:00 pm-4:00 pm
Fort Vancouver Ballroom

Most of us parents who attend the LIFE is Good conference come from conventional backgrounds, having spent years in traditional academic environments in which our parents adhered to mainstream child-rearing norms. Even for those of us who quickly embraced the philosophy and practice of unschooling, overcoming societal pressures to educate and parent “how everyone else is doing it” can feel overwhelming at times.

In this upbeat and light-hearted presentation, you’ll get a glimpse of what unschooling looked like for Carolyn and her (almost always!) unschooled daughters, now aged 18 and 21, and how she handled pressures and doubters in her circles. She will also share strategies for fostering connections and strengthening the bonds with your children, along with practical ideas for navigating your family’s own unschooling journey.

Finally, Carolyn will also share how the LIFE is Good Unschooling Conference and community have inspired and supported her since 2007. Whether you’re brand new to the conference, or a long-time attendee, you’ll hear how you and your family can make the most of your time at the conference.
